Heath Beasley

Aloha my name is Heath Beasley I am a christian, husband, father, son, brother, friend, artist, woodworker, musician, writer, animator, film producer, and lover of everything that’s pure, clean, and fun. I started this blog because I want to share the things I find most interesting with people who find what I like interesting. I was born in El Paso, Texas, but I lived in many different places like Germany, Virginia, and South Carolina. I now live in Hawaii which has been my home since I was nineteen. There’s so many things I love about Hawaii, like the food here you can find nowhere else and the people I just absolutely love. Not to mention the weather, which can not be beat. Let’s just say the weather is so good I don’t even own a jacket or sweater. I’m prior navy. I was a boatswain’s mate and served on two ships out of Pearl Harbor. I was also stationed at Patrol Squadron Nine “The World’s Famous Golden Eagles” at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base. I have a bachelors in Diplomacy and Military Studies from Hawaii Pacific University which I started while I was in the military thinking I was going to go a full 20 but didn’t. Looking back if I never got out of the military when I did I would not be where I am in life today. I don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring but I’m excited about the opportunities a new day brings. Oahu Island Blog will be a weekly blog that issues out new content every Monday. The blog will touch on faith, current events, videos, comic strips, and different places to eat on Oahu. All of the comic strips are done by me; I’ve been drawing ever since I was kid in 3rd grade. I started off drawing Beetle Bailey for a book report. Yeah, I used Beetle Bailey as a book report. (lol) Anyways, I made a diorama of Beetle Bailey and that’s how I started out. I then moved on to taking my big brother’s comic books like the Punisher, Batman, and Spiderman and tracing the pictures I liked out of the comic book. After a while I started drawing what I saw, and that opened the door for me creating my own characters and also my own comic strip. Over the years I evolved and during the course of that time I’ve had long periods where I didn’t have the time to draw. Or, there were other things that took up my time. While I was in the navy I had my own comic strip in the Hawaii Navy News paper, which was short lived due to my responsibilities I had to my ship and being out at sea. I was not able to give them enough comic strips to keep up while I was away, so it got discontinued.  Then for a number of years I just wasn’t drawing.  After I got out of the military I devoted my time back to drawing and enrolled into a local community college and learned how to digitalize my artwork. That opened up new doors and I started animating my cartoons then I went into filming.  I digress a lot in life and also in what I write , but that’s just who I am.  So I hope you enjoy. And, once again thank you for taking an interest in what I’m doing here.
